Angela Barnes grew up to be her Uncle Frank’s biggest fan.
When she attended Norwich Teacher Training College, she would often cycle over to Frank’s house in great anticipation, to see the latest work in progress.
When she moved abroad, the Allen’s followed her travels from Switzerland to Venezuela, Indonesia , and Hong Kong.
Having been separated from her father at the age of six, Frank effectively became a father figure and in doing so, heavily influenced Angela’s relationship to art andculture.
Frank hadn’t the strength to promote his work in his lifetime. Angela now sees her mission to do so on his behalf.
She has been the sole benefactor of the Frank Allen Project: the Critical Catalogue, the Website and now the Frank Allen Art Foundation.
Meeting Alastair in 2019, they both started work on the archive in Scotland and the culmination of all the hard labour is The Foundation.
A helping hand - reaching out to struggling artists, at Frank’s behest.
